Each year in January Target has one of the two Toy Clearance Sales (the other is in July).  As soon as the New Year rolls over you’ll be able to see the toy aisles lined with the red clearance tabs.  These sales typically start at 15% off and you’ll see up to 70% before the sale is over.  Timing is key, as soon as the sales begin to roll over to 30% & 50% off, the shelves start to get sparse.

Currently my Target (“North” Winchester, VA) has toys marked down as much as 70% off.  You’ll have to check your store for more specific on what items are marked down at what percentage.  Typically you’ll be able to walk the aisles of the stores and find the items scattered.  Once the selection dwindles you’ll be able to find the clearance items within a few aisles that have been set up and dedicated to clearance only items.  Don’t forget to check the end caps as well as they are stocked full too!

Some of the “higher value” items such as Legos, Disney Princess, and Little Tikes will take longer to be reduced.  But even at 30-50% off I’m sure they will be gone quick!

Last year items in my store were marked down to 50% by the 5-7th and mostly at 70% a week later!  You might want to get the “inside scoop” from any associates to see when they will be reduced at your store locally.
